Developed a future‑focused, systems‑level narrative to reposition a project of strategic national importance within Serbia’s long‑term priorities - clean air and water, modern utilities, economic opportunity, youth retention and alignment with EU Green Deal pathways. The work reframed the initiative as an enabler of Serbia’s emerging e‑mobility and green‑economy transition, creating a credible, EU‑aligned pathway to rebuild legitimacy and broaden societal support during a period of intense scrutiny.

GUINEA I RIO TINTO ENERGY & MINERALS - SIMANDOU PROJECT
Led a 100-person environmental team across the 700km Simandou mine–rail–port corridor, strengthening governance, contractor oversight and IFC-aligned compliance in a complex, high-risk setting. Built community trust through direct engagement and prioritised national capability development: coaching emerging leaders, transitioning key roles to local talent and establishing succession pathways that strengthened the project's social licence and operational resilience.

Led environmental and community engagement for the world-first HIsmelt iron-making technology, ensuring regulatory alignment and transparent stakeholder dialogue for a high-risk, first-of-kind industrial process. Championed Commonwealth Government engagement on CPRS novel-technology White Paper design. Delivered a trusted engagement model recognised with the Golden Gecko Award for environmental excellence.
Energy efficiency & decarbonisation
PILBARA, WESTERN AUSTRALIA | RIO TINTO IRON ORE
Directed multi-site energy efficiency and early decarbonisation work across Rio Tinto Iron Ore operations, identifying AUD$30M in energy-saving opportunities and strengthening the foundation for the organisation's emerging climate strategy. Improved operational understanding of emissions pathways and transition planning.

Strengthened fatality-prevention performance and uplifted safety culture across diverse, high-hazard operations, achieving the first fatality-free years in a decade.
Nature stewardship & environmental governance
GLOBAL | RIO TINTO GROUP HSES
Directed the global natural environment function, uplifting governance for land, biodiversity and rehabilitation across all assets. Strengthened enterprise-level visibility of nature-related risks and enhanced external positioning through collaboration with leading global conservation and biodiversity institutions and contributed to industry‑wide nature governance through involvement in the finalisation of the ICMM Nature Position Statement.
Environmental standards & assurance redesign

Led the redesign and global rollout of South32's Environmental Performance Standards, replacing legacy frameworks with a modern, risk-aligned system. Developed a full suite of standards and a maturity-assessment methodology, embedding clear, auditable performance expectations across diverse regulatory and cultural contexts and establishing a consistent, enterprise-wide assurance foundation.
